Create a domestic worker contractQuestions people ask
- What is the minimum wage for a domestic worker?
- Domestic workers are covered by the national minimum wage. The calculator uses the current hourly rate from our legislation centre, updated whenever the Minister announces a new figure.
- How much UIF must I pay for my domestic worker?
- If your worker works more than 24 hours a month, you must register with UIF. You deduct 1% of their pay and add another 1% yourself, so 2% in total is paid to UIF each month.
- What must I pay for Sundays and public holidays?
- Under the BCEA, work on a Sunday is paid at double time (or 1.5x if Sunday work is normal for the job). Work on a public holiday is paid at double the normal daily wage.
